Heart Disease
Causes of Heart Disease The major cause of coronary heart disease is atherosclerosis, which is a build-up of fatty materials within the walls of the arteries. This occurs when the inner lining of the artery walls is furred with a thick layer of fatty deposits of the monster called cholesterol, cell waste, and other substances. These form patches on the artery wall and are known as 'plaques' that reduce the space through which blood can flow. At the same time, the blood becomes more prone to clotting.
