Diagnosing Allergies
The following symptoms usually herald the onset of an allergic reaction:
Runny nose and/or teary eyes occurring every year at approximately the same time
A chronic cold/runny nose that lasts for longer than a week.
Nocturnal dry cough that usually disappears during the day.
If you suffer from any of the above, a good idea is to pay a visit to an allergist. In some cases, a real reason behind your symptoms might be a pseudo-allergic-reaction. If that is the case, it is wise to undergo a comprehensive check-up to discover a real culprit. In order to discover the cause of your allergic reactions, an allergist may ask you questions about your work, lifestyle or require you to document where, when and how your allergies usually occur.
Sometimes no treatment will be required, if an allergen is discovered and it is feasible to avoid it. In order to discover your allergens, an allergist may employ a host of methods such as a physical, skin test, blood test, elimination diet and food challenge tests. A comprehensive allergenic and immunological check-up is usually a best way to paint a complete picture of your personal allergic reactions.
